Located halfway between Toronto and Lake Simcoe, the town of Richmond Hill is one of the Greater Toronto Area’s fastest growing areas. This area was recently made part of the Greater Toronto Area in 1998 and has quickly become one of the GTA's fastest developing areas. Although this town was once known simply for being the “rose capital of the world”, due to extensive residential development, Richmond Hill is now the third most populous municipality in York Region and the 28th most populous municipality in Canada. Richmond Hill is the wave pool, which is located in the Lois Hancey Aquatic Centre on Hopkins Street. The pool is an indoor wave pool that featu res surfs that reach up to 4 feet and is also home to a 160-foot waterslide. An amazing attraction for kids and the young at heart!
The world famous David Dunlap Observatory not only attracts space enthusiasts, but also people from around the world who are fascinated by this major attraction. Located on Hillsview Dr., just north of Highway 7, the observatory has the largest optical telescope in Canada. Also located in Richmond Hill along Yonge St. and just off of Highway 407 is Silvercity Richmond Hill. This is a mega movie complex that is loved by many Richmond Hill residents.
