General Information:
Located just north of North York, Vaughn, "The City Above Toronto," has a lot to offer. Vaughan is located on the northern boundary of Toronto (pop. 2.4 million, 1998 est) and is at the geographical hub of the Greater Toronto Area (pop. 4.8 million, 1998 est).
One of the most popular attractions in Vaughn is Canada's Wonderland theme park. Just off of Highway 400, Wonderland has something for everyone: state of the art roller coasters; a water park with high twisting and turning slides and a huge wave pool.
The Boyd Conservation Area's 237 acres is a great place for nature lovers to spend some time. Located on Islington Avenue just north of Highway 7 are great walking and hiking trails and a large population of wildlife. Or visit the Kortright Conservation Area its Canada's largest conservation area with 18 kilometers of trails through mixed woods and open parkland.
Art lovers will insist on visiting the McMichael Canadian Art Collection to view the best of Canada's famous landscape painters. Visitors can also walk the 100 acres of conservatory land or enjoy dinner in the restaurant.
Several major highways transect the municipality (including Highways 400 and 427) and provide easy access to all major highway systems in the Greater Toronto Area (including the Queen Elizabeth Way and Highway 401). Highway 407, provides an efficient East-West corridor across the municipality. Canada's largest airport, Lester B. Pearson International, is within a 15-minute drive of Vaughan.
